You Don't Own Me!

Our business model is to stay in the background and never be seen.

Work was okay today.

I spoke to Helen last night and she said, “You know my second line manager, Teri Milham, is being a real bitch!”
“Oh, I never could stand her!”
“Yeah, there’s a rumor that she may transfer to San Francisco!”
“Oh no, I hope NOT to my office!”
Helen also said, “You know, Michael…Derek is being pressured to hire people ‘off the street’.”
When Helen said that about Derek I figured that opportunity for me was out of the question.

Margaret Lai and I had lunch at B&M. During my last break I ditched Margaret, Cedric and Mary and went to my Patelco Credit Union teller machine. Margaret was all burned up because I left without her.
I ignored her bitchy-ness and thought, “Grow Up! You don’t own me.”

I kept thinking about Margaret making me feel guilty, so I called her during the evening to let her know that I received one and a half dollars from the U.S. Treasury.

Cedric Green had written me a note and left it at my desk.
He wrote the question: ‘Are you busy tonight?’
I answered him later, “I am busy.”
Of course, I wasn’t busy and I ended up staying home. I took a nap.

Steve Green called, waking me from my nap. He ended up coming over at around nine-thirty or so. He was reading the newspaper in search of a car to buy. Then we went jogging around Harbor Bay Isle. It was fun. He tore off his underwear and I was kidding him about the holes in his “undies”.

We returned to my place after visiting Skylark 23 (it’s what I call that lookout post in that little park at the other end of Harbor Bay).

We watched most of the movie THIEF OF HEARTS and then turned in for the night.

I believe that the way to truly understand, to get to the bottom of things, is to smell the hot breath of reality, to touch the nitty-gritty.
I'm not convinced it's necessary to be there, to observe in order to know things, but being there is absolutely essential for things to know you.
