“Our bodies tell us what we need.”
-as heard in the 2011 film “HIGHER GROUND”
Twenty-five years ago today:

Thursday
Strangely enough, I received more complements on my Palm Springs tan today (and more than on the two previous days).
Margaret Lai and I took a bus ride to Kaiser Hospital. She had to pick up some sort of prescription for herself. While we were on the bus an overweight man with a grody looking face got on. He had some sort of growth around his nose. It made me sick to look. Yet I felt so sorry for the man. I realized how very lucky I am. Others tend to forget.
I telephoned Ron Leoni. He received the black jaguar cat card I sent him (as a play on my alias name-Jake Jaguar). It sounded like the car really made his day. I’m glad I sent him a Birthday gift today. I hope he likes that.
I telephoned Mark Landreth at work.
“I just wanted to tell you that I called Sue Croce by guessing her telephone number.”
Her number is 800-635-4300. Sue and I had a brief and pleasant talk. Mark and I had a good talk also. I had previously confided in Mark about Sue spending the night with me.
Mark announced excitedly, “I’ll be at the gym but probably not until way later.”
“Okay—I might see you there…not sure yet.”
Mark is probably my best-friend these days.
After work I went bike riding. I ran into Birda. We went riding together.
“I really want to thank you for that bike picture you gave me for my Birthday.”
We also discussed the idea of the “Le Tour de San Francisco” on July 13th. We spoke of other things. I enjoy riding and talking to Birda.
I called Yellow Pages Pac Bell Directory and learned that a Directory Office Rep. and a Directory Sales Rep. position are open in Los Angeles. I hope they get to the point of being offered to Pac Bell employees. I’d sure as hell apply for either one. I had mentioned a possible transfer to Los Angeles to Ron Leoni. He got rather excited about it. I guess he’d like to see me move down there. I don’t know. It depends on my getting the job offer.
I went to the gym after cycling with Birda. I tried to return a call to Tim O’Brien but he wasn’t home. His sister was probably having the baby.
I went to the gym. Dave (Mark’s friend) was there. I spotted for him on the free weights. I did my usual Nautilus weight-training routine.
Dave said, “You know—Joyce is the type that every time you see her it’s like meeting her for the first time.”
“Yeah, I guess so,” I replied even though I didn’t know what the heck he was talking about.
“You know—per rumors she posed nude.”
“I don’t know about that.”
Rick showed up and we talked a little while on the Life Cycle.
Rick said, “You know—I saw Steve in San Mateo last Friday night.”
I thought, “So what.”
I pretended to be interested and said, “He was probably at B Street, I guess.”
I knew I would never indulge at that gay joint again. I despise the vibes.
Upon my return home from the gym I heard an answering machine message from Nici Maurino.
“Michael, I just want to apologize for not coming to your party.”
I called her back and we had a relatively nice talk. She gave me a sales referral for tomorrow, too.
I wrote a postcard ‘a la Palm Springs’ for Paloma tonight. I also wrote one for Ron Leoni but it was a picture of the San Francisco BART train. I used the ‘cherry and ice-cube’ card for Ron.
Today was Hawaiian shirt day and ‘bring your Senior Pic’ day. Luckily I remembered at the last minute.
“They say travel is good for finding oneself…”
