Hogwash

"Free advice is rarely worth having."
-Randall & Hopkirk (aka My Partner The Ghost)
British TV series

Quick definition of hogwash:
(noun) unacceptable behavior...especially ludicrously false statements.

Twenty-five years ago today:

August 5, 1985
Monday
I am still waiting on word from Personal Travel regarding the rates to Paris via San Francisco. Damn they take forever.

I took my first break with Margaret Lai today. I have been avoiding Dale Orlando all day (except for a brief hello and good morning).

Stephanie Bautista, my boss, made a comment about my increased sales results since I befriended Dale. I thought that was ‘hogwash’. My sales have increased of my own determination. It has nothing to do with him! Steph doesn’t know (yet) about the dissolving friendship (between Dale and me).

Steph Redding called and she wrote a book that Avon Books may be willing to publish—or so she says. She’s starting her own Child Care Center in order to make $1000 per week.
Steph said, “In five years I would like you to work for me as a Marketing Administrator who travels all over promoting my books.”
“That sounds like that could be profitable,” I said to encourage her (and probably myself).
Time will tell.

I enjoyed lunch alone on Market Street. It was fun not having Dale around to make lewd comments. After work, Dale did snap at me, “We’re LATE section!”
That means we have to stay in the office for an extra thirty minutes. He looked at me right when he made the announcement. The “T.O.L.” (Tub of Lard).

I napped at home a bit after my workday. Rachelle’s phone call woke me. We met at the gym. Lorraine was there and I introduced Rachelle to Lorraine in a quick, nonchalant manner.

Rachelle and I went to my house (in my car) after the workouts and we made love upstairs in my bedroom. Then I drove back to the 24 Hour Nautilus Parking Lot where she had left her car. Things seem okay with us. I didn’t like her one remark:
“You can do anything you want,” Rachelle said, implying that I can date around with anyone.
I was sure she has been fed ideas from her gal pal, Danee (who is recently sort of broken off with her boyfriend, Matt). What gets me is that they’re allowed to see other people. What Rachelle said is ‘hogwash’. If she starts ‘going out on me’ I won’t want her anymore. If she truly wanted me she’d stick with me through thick and thin.

"Do keep a close eye. Someone is watching. Someone always is."

Episode 3, Stage Fright
