What counts in science is not being the first to do an experiment but being the first to publish the results.
-The Seven Daughters of Eve
by Bryan Sykes
Here are a few words I found in May Sarton's Journal dated February 25, 1994:
A perfect small lyric written in the 9th Century as a requiem for the Abbess of Grandestine, who died young:
Thou hast come safe to port,
I still at sea
The lights is on thy head,
Darkness in me
Pluck though in Heaven's field,
Violet and Rose,
While I strew flowers
That will thy vigil keep
Where thou dost sleep,
LOVE, in thy last repose.

I chose my vacation time for next year (1986) today. I’ve selected the last week of May and the first week of June.
I worked my usual day. I was awaiting and expecting my call from George Jones which never came. And so I continued my work day, trying not to think about it. He cannot be relied upon.
After work I went to my house and napped. I had the energy and drive to go to the gym after my nap. After the gym visit I decided to go to the I-BEAM in San Francisco to see Paloma’s bartending pal, Maria. I gave Maria the address to where she may write to Paloma.
While I was sipping a cocktail and dancing at the I-BEAM I met three girls on this night:
1. Cathy is twenty-two years old. She’s married and looked a lot like actress Karen Allen.
PHOTO: Actress, Karen Allen
2. Michelle is nineteen years old.
3. Lilly is twenty years old.
All three of them were very nice. They all work together in Sausalito at a place called HAMBURGERS. It sounds good. I may stop by for a free hamburger next Saturday as Cathy suggested. I danced with them.
I also learned that Cathy’s husband is a body builder.
Cathy said, “He’s been body building for eight years!”
“That’s a long time,” I said, “Maybe there’s hope for me since I only started on January 18th of this year.”
I did the math. Her husband began body building at age eighteen, if he’s been doing it for eight years that makes him twenty-six (the same age as me).
I was home by 2:15AM. I hit the hay immediately. Yawn.
There are no secrets in life just hidden truths that lie beneath the surface.-as heard while watching
