I shall keep a diary in the same way. I don't mean one of those two-pages-to-the week-with-Sunday-squeezed-in-a-corner diaries, but a sort of journal which I can write in whenever I feel inclined. I do not suppose there will be much of interest to other people, but it is not intended for them.
It is really an exercise book.

Monday
I did not forget my drinks for the pot-luck office deal today. It’s just that I didn’t really feel like getting out of bed.
Dale had the day off but it didn’t stop him from bringing in his 8-day old child into the office for everyone to see.
“Hello everybody, this is Andrew.”
I called Danny Garcia and Robert and they invited me for dinner this evening. They even requested my presence for an outing to Russian River this weekend.
“That sounds fun but I’m going to my niece’s birthday party,” I answered. I didn’t really feel like going anyway. I decided to pull a ‘no-show’ for this evening, too. Danny will probably hate me for it but ‘what the hell’. After working in the city all day I know I won’t feel like driving out to Danville.
I worked my usual hard-working tasks of the day. I was stuffed from all of the pot-luck lunch goods. Stephanie Bautista was near my cubicle and I remembered I needed to tell her something.
“Oh Stephanie, I got this Supreme Court Jury Duty summons the other day. I don’t know if I will be selected as a juror or not but I wanted to let you know.”
“Darn it. Let’s see how it goes then.”
I telephoned Rachelle Davies at around 4:45PM today. I think she wanted me to pick her up from her grandmother’s house.
“If you pick me up we can go to the gym together,” Rachelle begged.
“Well, let’s see how the timing goes. I’m still in The City.”
Rachelle works out so slowly. I like to work out harder. Practice makes perfect I suppose. I’m glad we had this short chat by phone today.
When I arrived home Steff called me about something so unimportant that I don’t even recall what it was about.
I went to the gym and Bob, the trainer was there with his ‘QBL’ eyes. Rachelle was there, too, and she surprised me with a comment about Bob.
“Bob already toured me through twice on the machines,” Rachelle announced.
“Oh…now you won’t have the energy to work out with me.”
When I am doing cardiovascular action on the Life Cycle my mind goes adrift. I was feeling guilty because I haven’t written Jim Koran back since his last letter. I wonder what he is up to these days. I wonder if he will ever send me copies of the photos he took while he was up here.
I wonder why Paloma has not written to me. I am beginning to feel that she was so pissed-off at my negative response to our marriage that she’s disowned all previous knowledge of me.
After the gym it was still early, so I stopped by to visit Dad. I ate two pork buns while I picked up the phone to call on Rachelle. We had a brief chat and I agreed to call her a little later.
I went home and Dale called me as we talked about our potential business idea of ‘Chip n’ Dale’s’ and MADO Graphics. We also talked about the tape cassette we want to acquire at the California College of Arts & Crafts about the greeting card business.
Steff called but we didn’t talk long. I didn’t have much to say.
When I telephoned Rachelle again she sounded so down and out.
“Why do you sound so sad?”
“I don’t know. I’m just bored.”
“Well, I hope I’ll be able to lift your spirits.”
She laughed.
“Maybe we’ll be able to fuck one day and I’ll be able to life my spirits as well,” I thought to myself but did not say aloud.
Rachelle could use a tan. She’s cute though. I love her hair.
I watched the last part of the “LACE II” mini-series while talking to Dale. He was all caught up in the business talk, Ryan Hargrave talk, divorce talk, my five-thousand dollar credit limit on my VISA talk, etc.
It was time to turn in.
Yawn.
